Online RJ Shield Format

  • All School Aged Children are welcome to join
  • Last Sunday of every month, from 1 - 4.30pm (please aim to be logged in at 12:30pm)
  • Over 10, Under 10 and Under 8 Sections
  • Time limits: 12 minutes plus 3 seconds per move per player
  • Special online pricing of just $25 per player
  • Accumulate 18 points to qualify to the RJ Shield Finals in November
  • All children are welcome
  • Game commentary, coaching and interviews for an educational and social experience!
  • All games are played on Tornelo.com. All you have to do is: go to the website, log in on Sunday and play!

​The RJ Shield tournament is the perfect first tournament for junior chess players to come ​and have some fun playing chess and testing out their skills!

Who can join?

Our tournaments are ideal for junior players of various levels of experience. 
Players are divided into age sections, usually:
  • Over 10 years old
  • Under 10 years old
  • Under 8 years old

How it happens

ONLINE, using Tornelo.
Players are required to have a computer or tablet and internet connection to play!

Each event is a 7-Round Allegro Tournament
​(12 mins + extra 3 secs per move played). 

We emphasise on fun and improvement and developing thinking skills.

We are run by expert chess coaches!
