On Sunday 29 March
The first round will commence at exactly 1pm sharp Melbourne time.
The start will not be delayed and we cannot delay it
You will need to “join” the tournament. Joining will be open from precisely 12.45pm
Log in to your account at ChessKid.com. You should see the following screen. Click on “Fast Chess Tournaments”
You will see the following screen. Two tournaments will be displayed on the right hand panel.
15 minutes or less before the event (ie. between 12,45pm and 1pm), click on either the Under 10 or Over 10 tournament to Join.
Late arrivals (important)
It is very important that you join the tournament between 12.45pm and 1pm and are ready to play at 1pm
In the event that you are late, please still follow the above procedure and hopefully you will be paired in for Round 2. (We cannot guarantee this as we are advised by ChessKid that the feature whereby latecomers are admitted is brand new and untested)
After joining the tournament, you will see the following screen, and you can then wait until you are automatically matched with an opponent and then you should immediately commence your game.
Pairings for subsequent rounds will be done automatically and when the last game in Round 1 is finished, you will have another game on your screen ready to play.
Expect it to take approx. 30 minutes each round for all games to be completed, but please keep an eye on your screen, because if all games are finished in a shorter time, the next round will be paired straight away and the clocks will be started
Notes on age groups
Under 10 is for people born in 2010 and later
Stronger under 10s can choose to play in Over 10 event
Over 10s cannot be physically prevented from choosing the Under 10 event, but if they do, points scored will not be counted towards finals qualification
